Residents of Buckeye have voted for 51.70 mills to the school district. Due to HB 920 the residents pay an effective rate of 21.177623 for operating. The businesses also pay a reduced millage of 22.304233 of the voted mills for operating dollars.

“We just gave you money: Operating money vs. Bond money!”

The last new operating millage was passed in 1994 for 12.5 mills. This was a phase-in levy over a period of 3 years. The first year was an increase of 6.9 mills. The second and third years were 2.8 each. This levy expired December 2004. We stated this additional millage would serve this district for 10 years. We kept our word. The Voters renewed this levy for a continuing period of time in August 2004. This is operating money and not Construction or Bond money.

In 1999, this District asked for an expected 5.5 mills or 23.7 million dollars. This money was to be used for Construction and Renovation of our facilities, Bond Dollars. The sale of the Bonds at an exceptional interest rate put the actual millage paid by the residence at 4.70 mills. In January 2006, the district reduced the millage to be collected to 3.70 mills from 4.70 mills previously collected. We are very proud of our accomplishments at Buckeye Local Schools. We are determined to accomplish our mission of educating all students. We are committed in using all resources to provide a safe learning environment.

“We need your help!”

It takes a village to educate a child. We need the help of every resident, parent, student, employee and business partner of this district to continue our mission.
